At Apollo, we support vital scientific research and discovery that improves the lives of people across the globe. Our ambition is to do it in a way that has a positive impact on people and the planet. It is in our commitment to creating a better future, that we are continuously looking to evolve how we operate to improve our environmental and social impact. From reducing the resources we use to the waste we generate, we’re challenging ourselves, our partners and suppliers to take fundamental action and transform how we do business to shape a sustainable future together.
Over the past couple of years, we’ve analysed every area of our business to identify ways we can operate more sustainably and are proud to have made great strides in improving our environmental footprint and social impact. A few of the ways we’ve achieved this is through implementing a switch off policy across both our sites, business travel policy, training on ethics and sustainable procurement, installation of LED lighting, replacing our conventional fork lifts with battery powered ones and putting aerators on taps to reduce consumption to name a few.
In 2021 we published our first Corporate Social Responsibility report to transparently report on the progress we have made, highlight our achievements and map out our future targets. We will be publishing our CSR reports annually to show an honest and accurate account of where we are in our sustainability journey and to be accountable for improving year on year.

Climate change is one of the defining challenges our time, however it also presents us with an opportunity to reimagine how we live today to create a healthier, safer and sustainable world.
We are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint with urgency and understand that we need to act now to protect the planet so we’ve set ourselves the ambitious yet fundamental target of becoming a net zero carbon company by 2040 – 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement.
In 2021 we were proud to achieve net zero against our scope 1 & 2 emissions. Our policy so far has been off-setting emissions, but we are looking towards measures we can introduce to reduce consumption whilst growing the business. We are now working on establishing our scope 3 emissions to reduce these from 2025 in collaboration with our supply chains.
We understand that our responsibility as a sustainable company extends further than just our business activities. We source raw materials, products and services from a global supply chain and understand the impact that this has on environments and communities across the world which is why we ensure all our suppliers adhere to the highest standards of ethical and professional behaviours outlined in our supplier code of conduct.
Our ultimate ambition is to reward sustainable practices within our supply chain and to offer support and share information on best practices across our supply chain to enable all our suppliers to grow and improve their own sustainability credentials.
