Pyrazole compounds have a relatively low abundance in nature, but have a high synthetic availability. They have a long history of interest within medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical development, with reports of investigation into their anti-inflammatory properties from over 50 years ago. The Pyrazole motif features in a wide range of pharmaceutical products from anti-cancer agents, such as Crizotinib, anti-microbials and antivirals, to drugs like Sildenafil.
